I’m Eric Youn. I run K-Life Choice — a practical guide for foreigners navigating daily life in Korea.

I write this site because I’ve been on the other side.

I spent over 15 years living abroad, running a computer business, raising my children overseas, and figuring out everything from bank accounts to school enrollment in a country where I didn’t always know the system. I know what it feels like to walk into a government office and not understand which form to fill out, or to sign a contract you can’t fully read.

After returning to Korea, I realized that foreigners here face the exact same problems I dealt with overseas — mobile plans, housing deposits, transportation cards, hospital visits, visa paperwork — except the guides available were either too general, outdated, or written by people who had never actually gone through the process themselves.

That’s why I started K-Life Choice. Every article on this site is based on real situations that foreigners commonly face in Korea. I focus on practical decisions — the kind where getting it wrong costs you time, money, or unnecessary stress.

I’m not a lawyer, immigration consultant, or government official. I’m someone who has lived the experience of being a foreigner in another country for over 15 years, and who now lives in Korea and sees the same struggles from the local side. I write what I wish someone had written for me.
